Organisation of the conference

The conference is organised by three French specialists of Gregory of Nyssa:

Matthieu Cassin is researcher at the CNRS (Institut de recherche et d’histoire des textes, section grecque et de l’Orient chrétien); specialist of the history of transmission of patristic texts, he has written a dissertation on the Contra Eunomium by Gregory of Nyssa, partly published (L’Écriture de la controverse chez Grégoire de Nysse. Polémique littéraire et exégèse dans le “Contre Eunome”); he is currently preparing, in collaboration with Christian Boudignon a French translation of the Homilies on the Lord’s prayer for the series Sources chrétiennes.

Hélène Grelier Deneux is Maître de conférences in Greek literature and culture of Late Antiquity at the Paris Ouest University. In addition to her teaching duties,

she has contributed to several books on the works of Gregory of Nyssa, the doctrinal debates and argumentation techniques in religious controversies of the second to the fifth century. She is currently preparing a monograph entitled Grégoire de Nysse contre Apolinaire de Laodicée.

 Françoise Vinel, emeritus Professor of history of Early Christian literature at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Strasbourg. She has published the French translation of the Homilies on Ecclesiastes in the Sources chrétiennes and is preparing the volume on Small Trinitarian works for the same collection; she has also published a French translation of the Questions to Thalassios of Maximus the Confessor.
